Flat Roof Installation, Maintenance & Repair
Canadian Master Roofing offers three types of flat roofing: built up roof (BUR), SBS-modified bitumen and rubber membrane.
Built Up Roof (BUR)
A traditional hot-tar and gravel roof built using a minimum 4-ply waterproof material, alternated with hot tar. This type of roofing is evolving and using more advanced materials such as fibreglass membranes. Gravel over top offers excellent UV protection.
SBS (Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene) is a rubber additive that can be combined with asphalt to make it more flexible and resistant to temperature fluctuations. It is generally applied in 2-3 layers for the maximum benefit.
Rubber roofs from Urban Contracting are made from EPDM (Ethylene Proplyene Diene Monomer.) This durable material resembles an inner tube, but it’s engineered to resist damage from sunlight. EPDM can be mechanically anchored with fasteners or glue.
